Hello from the middle of the pacific ocean. We departed the port of Los Angeles at 6:00PM PST on 1/4 and won't be seeing land until we hit (hmmm, not hit) Kauai, HI on 1/10.

It's been a bumpy ride; swells have been as high as 15 ft. and continuous. Luckily, so far, no seasickness; a few of my shipmates cannot say the same.

My first blog post has proven a bit challenging. "Free WiFi" is not blog friendly. Our nerd consultant has advised it is best to work early and from one of the lounges. Close proximity to a bloody mary could make for some interesting posts.

Let's see if I can answer a few questions (I think you should be able to ask more in the comments section):

- My ship is the Regent Seven Seas Navigator. It has 245 suites for guests and 300 + crew members. This ship is Regent's smallest and oldest. You can definitely see her miles, but she has a great feel; cozy, elegant. The service has been outstanding.

- The guests are mostly 50+ and relatively wealthy and the similarities end there. I've meet folks from different countries (Paraguay, France, England, Canada...) and stages of retirement. Not all guests are going around the world. A couple I met on the flight from Tampa is getting off in Sydney to tour Australia and New Zealand. A couple I met at our floor block party is departing in Tahiti. At the life boat demo, I met a two brothers and their parents traveling all the way to NYC... I'm still trying to learn more of their story. Also going to NYC are two lovely ladies I met at the hotel breakfast prior to boarding; both single travelers. Joan is 80ish, originally from NYC, now retired in Honolulu. She tells a mean story and has a foul mouth. Maralee is 60ish from Paraguay. Her looks are straight out of the 60's. She is well educated and her two kids are too. One is a London banker and the other just finished up Columbia med school.

Bandwidth is problematic, so pictures are going to be spotty. Eventually, I'll add a mile counter to the site and hopefully a map. We are a work in progress.

Post any questions or items you may want to hear about in the comments.

Cheers Friends!

Bon Voyage
