Being honest, I had never heard of New Caledonia, but I won't forget it. The ocean is deep blue. it is comprised of many little islands and mountains. It is a French province and Noumea is its largest city. It's on its way to being a well developed city and already has a hefty cost of living.
A fun fact, there are almost an equal number of boats to families. A favorite pastime is sailing around/to the numerous islands, where most time you have it to yourself.
This is a stop worthy of a second visit.
