Miles sailed 10,886

We made it across the Pacific, spent a few days in the Coral Sea and are currently bumping along the Tasman Sea. I must confess that the pictures from these two ports are limited.

In Brisbane (drop the "A" when saying it), my tour wasn't great for pictures, but I did get a really good look at the city.... and I loved it. It's a mix of old buildings and skyscrapers, has a river running through it, lots of parks, is clean, perfectly manicured and well laid out. The city is growing fast. I really wish we had more than a day to explore; each block was a bit different (pedestrian malls, china town, university pubs, high end dining, etc.).

Sailing into Sydney was absolutely spectacular. It just shines from the water; the Opera House, Harbor Bridge and city skyline, Wow! Here too, I didn't get many pictures (sorry, I'll stop slacking with the next stop). We came into the harbor in the morning and anchored. That afternoon, a private event for world cruisers was held at the Opera House. Yes, I was all dressed up, although the tender ride to the pier "fluffed" my hair a bit. We were plied with canapes, cocktails and opera. Goosebumps! and as a special treat, our boat moved from anchor to the cruise pier and she sailed right past the Opera House windows and in front of Harbor Bridge. So beautiful. It was a wonderful night.

Day 2 in Sydney was for exploring. It was high summer, hot. Most of you know, the past several years I've struggled with my knees and haven't been that mobile. I've been working with a trainer on the ship and was anxious to test my progress. As I said, it was hot and had no idea how far I could venture.... so I decided a "carrot" was needed for my walk. I picked a couple of pubs to visit... and headed out :). I'm happy to report, I made it out and back successfully. Hiccup.

Both Brisbane and Sydney are worthy of more exploration. The people are even more beautiful than the cities and they like their beer. We were supposed to anchor in Mooloolaba today, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Next up, Whitsunday Island and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef.

My favorite picture. The Navigator from the Opera House:
